It takes courage to know when we need to find help, when our problems seem to be more than we can handle on our own or with the support of friends and family. Navigating life, particularly at certain junctures such as adolescence, young adulthood and middle age, can be tricky. It can be difficult to recover from some life events. And sometimes we know we want to grow, to lead a more fulfilling life and need someone’s guidance and nurturing to do so.

As a therapist I am described as warm, very present, energetic yet calm and caring. My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative, respectful and deep. My office in Lafayette is spacious, light-filled and sometimes called “the tree house.” It is a peaceful place for change.

I see adults, children and adolescents in my practice and use a variety of methods within our sessions to engage clients fully. I work with clients touched by adoption, many adoptees of various ethnicities who live with their adoptive parents whose ethnicities or race may or may not match their own. Some have knowledge of or contact with their birth families and many do not. I also work with youth (and adults) who question their sexual orientation or gender identity. We examine these questions and work on the choice and timing of coming out to family and friends. My clients present with a variety of ethnicities and I am comfortable and curious to explore the effects of this with them. I also work with many artistic people as they navigate their own "alternative paths' toward fulfilling and stable lives.

I am happy to talk with you on the phone and then to meet (in person or virtually) to see if I may be a good match for you. Check my website for more details. Thank you.
